We describe the rationale for, core elements of, and implementation challenges of an integrated psychopharmacology-psychotherapy treatment model for early-onset behavioral health disorders that commonly present to child and adolescent psychiatrists working in the ambulatory clinical setting. These disorders include Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) with or without Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Depression, and Anxiety Disorders Each of these disorders has support for an evidence-based psychotherapy and a psychopharmacological treatment. A description of the model is presented which is potentially transportable into managed care systems and is designed for efficient delivery in a time and resource constrained environment treating children with complex mental health care needs. Potential limitations of the model are discussed.
