Kernpunten

  • Kenmerkend voor het blaaspijnsyndroom of interstitiële cystitis is pijn in de onderbuik die toeneemt met de blaasvulling.
  • Bij onderzoek bevinden zich in de urine vaak leukocyten en erytrocyten, maar een bacteriële infectie kan niet worden aangetoond.
  • De diagnose blaaspijnsyndroom is een diagnose per exclusionem.
  • Er bestaat geen ultieme effectieve behandeling en derhalve lijkt een multidisciplinair zorgmodel de beste aanpak.
