As I write this Editorial on New Year’s Day, 2007, I am beginning my 10th year as Editor of the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders. It has been quite an exciting time for me and for the field of autism. Although our field was getting increasing recognition 10 years ago, that additional attention back then cannot begin to match what has happened since. When I assumed this position from Eric Schopler, JADD received approximately 100 manuscripts per year. We have just bid farewell to 2006, receiving 260 papers for review. That is just one of the many signs of change and remarkable growth in the field of autism. …
