Samenvatting

Met behulp van echoscopisch onderzoek kunnen bij een meerlingzwangerschap: het aantal foetussen bepaald worden; de chorioniciteit en de amnioniciteit bepaald worden door het tussenschot te onderzoeken in het eerste trimester; de intra-uteriene situs met lokalisatie van de foetussen en placenta’s geschetst worden; specifieke complicaties van de monochoriale tweeling gediagnosticeerd worden: tweelingtransfusiesyndroom (TTS), tweelinganemie-polycythemiesequentie (TAPS), selectieve foetale groeirestrictie (sFGR), zeldzame congenitale afwijkingen zoals twin reversed arterial perfusion (TRAP of acardiacus) en de vergroeide (Siamese) tweeling.
