5. Versterken en trainen van emotieregulatie: wat zegt het onderzoek?

Samenvatting

Er is reeds uitgebreid onderzoek verricht bij volwassenen naar de effecten van diverse emotieregulatievaardigheden, zoals emotioneel bewustzijn en zelfcompassie, en naar specifieke strategieën, zoals cognitieve herbeoordeling en ruminatie. Ook bij jongeren is er al enige onderzoeksevidentie. In dit hoofdstuk concentreren we ons op onderzoek met betrekking tot het gebruik van specifieke emotieregulatiestrategieën en emotionele basisvaardigheden, zoals zelfcompassie en flexibiliteit, in zowel preventie als klinische behandeling van jongeren. We trappen dit hoofdstuk af met een diepgaande analyse van het effect van specifieke vaardigheden en strategieën bij jongeren binnen een schoolomgeving. Hierbij wordt ook aandacht besteed aan een specifieke training genaamd ‘Boost Camp’, die kan worden ingezet ter preventie van (sub)klinische symptomen in een schoolcontext. Vervolgens verdiepen we ons in de impact van de emotieregulatietraining EuREKA binnen klinische groepen.
