Abstract

‘Cue-exposure’-therapie (CET) is een vorm van therapie gebaseerd op principes van klassieke conditionering. Trek in psychotrope middelen is aangeleerd en kan in principe dus ook weer afgeleerd of ‘uitgedoofd’ worden. Dit wordt gedaan door afhankelijke gebruikers het middel van genot voor te houden maar hun gewoonlijke respons (het middel gebruiken) te voorkomen. In dit artikel worden de resultaten van een recente studie over CET bij heroïneverslaafden besproken, alsmede de gevolgen die deze therapie kan hebben voor patiënt, hulpverlener en behandelcultuur binnen verslavingszorginstellingen.
