Samenvatting

Veroudering van de huid is het gevolg van een samenspel van intrinsieke en extrinsieke factoren. De meest opvallende tekenen zijn atrofie, verlies van elasticiteit, rimpels, uitzakken van de huid, droogheid, een gelige verkleuring (elastosis senilis) en een toenemend aantal vlekjes (lentigines seniles).
Naast deze tekenen van cutane veroudering komen ook sommige huidafwijkingen en huidziekten vaker voor bij ouderen, waaronder pruritus senilis, craquelé-eczeem en tumoren van de huid.
