Jill Boucher: Autism Spectrum Disorder (2nd ed.)

Dr. Boucher has produced a book on Autism Spectrum Disorders which will be valuable for many audiences: families with newly diagnosed children or children moving on to the next stage of their life, individuals with ASD who want to understand the latest thinking about the condition, researchers who want a broad picture of research in areas not their specialty, and clinicians of many disciplines. She achieves this by melding her own many years of clinical experience and research with summaries of the latest research. This book fills a niche that is really not yet filled (except perhaps by the first edition of this book), which is right between a scholarly work with chapters by experts and references for every assertion, and a book presenting one clinician’s point of view. The author uses references when needed, but doesn’t feel compelled to use references to support every assertion, and given the long experience and authority of the author, this is acceptable and makes the book more readable. …
