Left ventricular aneurysm (LVA) is strictly defined as a distinctarea of abnormal left ventricular diastolic contour with systolicdyskinesia or paradoxical bulging.
1 LVA generally results from myocardial infarction or coronary artery malformations (i.e. fistula)
2 but rarely, LVA can be associated with causes other than coronary artery disease including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM),
3 Chagas' disease,
4 sarcoidosis,
5 congenital LVA
6 and idiopathic LVA.
7 However, LVA formation in patients with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (IDCM) is rarely reported, and the incidence, clinical features and pathogenesis of LVA formation in patients with IDCM is poorly understood.
