Samenvatting

In de behandelpraktijk en in wetenschappelijk onderzoek is er tot op heden geen alomvattend model of theorie beschikbaar waarmee de persoonlijkheid of persoonlijkheidspathologie van iemand in het geheel kan worden beschreven en begrepen. Er bestaan verschillende benaderingswijzen (referentiekaders) met elk een eigen theoretische achtergrond en deels overlappende operationalisaties. Om deze reden is er ook niet één meetinstrument of diagnostische methode waarmee persoonlijkheid in al haar facetten kan worden gediagnostiseerd. Persoonlijkheidsdiagnostiek kan het best practice-based worden uitgevoerd, middels een multiconceptuele en multimethodische werkwijze. Deze aanpak wordt in dit hoofdstuk uitgewerkt aan de hand van uiteenlopende benaderingswijzen die gebruikt worden in de psychodiagnostiek van de persoonlijkheid en persoonlijkheidspathologie. Bovendien wordt deze multiconceptuele en multimethodische aanpak inzichtelijk gemaakt middels een overzicht waarin theoretische concepten en praktijkgerichte psychodiagnostische meetinstrumenten aan elkaar worden gekoppeld.
