Samenvatting

Persoonlijkheidsvragenlijsten worden veelvuldig toepast binnen de persoonlijkheidsdiagnostiek. Vrijwel alle internationale en nationale richtlijnen bevelen het gebruik van vragenlijsten aan als aanvulling op andere methoden, zoals (semigestructureerde) interviews. Verder wordt aanbevolen om vragenlijsten spaarzaam en efficiënt toe te passen, met bij voorkeur meerdere informanten (bijvoorbeeld cliënten én hun naasten) en meerdere domeinen van onderzoek (bijvoorbeeld symptomen, persoonlijkheidstrekken en persoonlijkheidsfunctioneren). Voor zorgvuldige diagnostiek met persoonlijkheidsvragenlijsten dienen clinici daarnaast rekening te houden met kwaliteitseisen aan vragenlijsten. Dit betreft psychometrische aspecten zoals betrouwbaarheid, validiteit en kwaliteit van de normgroep(en) van persoonlijkheidsvragenlijsten en heeft ook betrekking op de cultuursensitiviteit en gendersensitiviteit van de test en leesbaarheid van de items. Ten slotte worden er in dit hoofdstuk aanwijzingen gegeven voor de interpretatie en rapportage van de scores op persoonlijkheidsvragenlijsten
