Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk worden de verschillende vormen van externe en interne wortelresorptie besproken. De etiologie en pathogenese van wortelresorptie zijn nog niet geheel duidelijk. Een tijdige diagnostisering is veelal essentieel voor een effectief behandelresultaat en goede prognose. De diverse vormen van wortelresorptie vereisen hun eigen therapie. Met name na ernstig tandletsel is preventief én na het ontstaan van externe ontstekingsresorptie een wortelkanaalbehandeling geïndiceerd. CBCT is een goed middel om de exacte locatie en omvang van resorptieprocessen te bepalen en heeft daarmee een gunstige invloed op behandelingsplanning en -resultaat.
