17. De endodontische herbehandeling

Samenvatting

Bij het constateren van een niet effectief gebleken wortelkanaalbehandeling moet er samen met de patiënt besloten worden wat de consequenties zijn voor het betreffende element. De mogelijkheden zijn: accepteren van de situatie, extractie van het element, apicale chirurgie of revisie van de wortelkanaalbehandeling. Als het element aan de voorwaarden voldoet, zoals de wens van de patiënt om het element te behouden, het element goed te restaureren is, parodontaal stabiel is en de wortelkanaalbehandeling te verbeteren lijkt, kan gekozen worden voor de revisie. In dit hoofdstuk wordt beschreven met welke factoren rekening moet worden gehouden bij de keuze voor de revisie van de wortelkanaalbehandeling en hoe een herbehandeling dan technisch uitgevoerd kan worden.
