In The Information Behavior of a New Generation: Children and Teens in the 21st Century, editors Jamshid Beheshti and Andrew Large aim to provide insights into the information seeking behaviors of children and young adults. Although several studies have been conducted on information seeking behaviors, this book goes further by exploring the effects that new technologies have had on information literacy and education. This book adds new depth to the conversation by exploring a wider variety of new media, social networking, cyber-bullying, and virtual learning environments. Although the book notes the significant risks that new technologies pose, it also expresses optimism about the future. If young adults can overcome the challenges of mastering effective search strategies, behaving responsibly online, and finding a place in virtual environments, the book suggests that young adults will have more opportunities to access and use information in positive ways previously thought impossible. …
